The Inspirational Moment Behind “If We Love One Another”
Walking alongside a large reflection pond one day, these two little girls noticed a duck nesting near the water’s edge, so they moved closer to investigate.
On the way there, the younger one began to make a game out of hopping over the tree’s exposed roots, so the older one reached out and took her by the hand to help steady her.
Nothing was actually said in this tender moment when such sweet love was expressed. The older girl, completely of her own accord, was simply taking care of her younger cousin, who was bounding about without a worry in the world.
I took this picture thinking, I wish this is what these two little girls could see when they look in the mirror — someone who loves and someone who is loved.
When we look in the mirror, we are oftentimes too focused on the outward appearance to see what God is doing inside us.
The girls pictured here are two of the most beautiful little girls in the world, who also just so happen to be my GrandPrincesses; and yet, even they are much, much more beautiful on the inside.
When you look in the mirror, I hope you will allow our Lord to show you what He sees — the incomparable beauty that is so clearly visible when we love one another.
“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His Love is made complete in us.” (1John 4:12)
When we love one another, we are both of these two beauties — the one who reaches out in love, and the one who is so dearly loved.
Live in such a way that our Invisible God becomes a little more visible each day.
